At CBJ Vizslas, our mission is to provide the highest quality puppy to help improve the lives of their owners. We believe that pets are part of the family and we do everything we can from the breeding, delivery, care and beginning training to set them up for great success with their new families.

CBJ Vizsla owner, Doug Engel, started with his first vizsla back in the early 1980's when he was in junior high. He always felt that Rusty was an absolute great hunting companion and all around best dog he ever had. With close to 20 years breeding experience they have perfected what it means to be a reputable breeder that focusses on the quality of their puppies.

Our team consists of owners Doug and Lynnette Engel along with the help of their three sons and of course girlfriends and plenty of friends that love to come help with puppy socialization and who enjoy hunting with our dogs.

Doug, Lynnette and their boys are not just breeding dogs, but taking the time to nurture beautiful, intelligent, sweet natured and exceptionally healthy Vizsla family members.
We knew the breed can be very energetic and was nervous about bringing home a Tasmanian Devil, but Hayes has truly exceeded our expectations in terms of what a family dog can be. Not only is he extremely gentle, loving, and affectionate, but unlike so many Vizslas we've met, he's also completely and utterly chill and snuggly at home (make no mistake, though - he goes into full cheetah mode at the park!).
Doug and Lynnette have continued to support us with answers, advice and friendship after bringing Hayes home, and sincerely love all the updates and pictures we send. It is clear that they are truly invested in the lives of their dogs long after they leave their Iowa farm. We feel incredibly grateful to have lucked into partnering with CBJ Vizslas and there is no doubt in our minds that we'll be customers for life.

Ginger has exceeded all our expectations. She is a delight to be around in our home, great with our other dogs, is confident, well-tempered and eager to please. In the field she runs big, is naturally steady and learns faster than any dog we have ever had. All this is a tribute to CBJ starting her right and matching up the right genes. Thank you Doug and Lynnette for my new best friend!

Growing up I had Pugs and a Pekingese, my husband had Labradors and Shetland Sheepdogs.
While in college a friend had two Vizslas (we'd never heard of the breed) and we accompanied him on a hike. We were so blown away by the intelligence, sweetness and loyalty of this breed that we told ourselves this HAD to be our future dog!
Fast forward through wedding bells and our first child and I was contacting CBJ Vizslas inquiring about a puppy. They were so sweet and gave me updated pics weekly. They even get their puppies interested in grouse wings right away if you are wanting a bird dog.
We are avid deer hunters but not bird hunters (yet). Even though we never trained her and had hardly taken her out with a shotgun looking for birds, she outdid herself when brought on a partridge hunt through an outfitter. The guide was super impressed with her and it took only minutes to show her the ropes. Everyone in the group was blown away. The bloodline that CBJ Vizslas has is incredible and I would recommend them to anyone!
Lucy has above average skills for a pointer but for my. kids she is their security blanket, adventure buddy and the best at cuddling!
